SIMMARIX Services

Deregulation

Load & Financial Settlements

The SIMMARIX database manages the data and performs any necessary aggregation or other calculations to balance load amongst customers. SIMMARIX also provides for financial settlements, including calculation of the difference between the energy usage that was forecasted versus what was actually used by customers. SIMMARIX will then prepare a settlement invoice for each customer and forward electronically.

SIMMARIX as a Load Settlement Agent

The SIMMARIX load settlement module performs all settlement runs and data provisioning in accordance with local regulatory requirements. For Alberta this means the Settlement Timing and Data provisioning rules set forth in the latest version of the System Settlement Code as posted by the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).

Reports and logs of all inputs and outputs from the settlement engine are created and stored for user viewing at any time via the web interface. The user simply logs on to the system using the username and password provided to access these reports. When the user is logged in to the system and through the menu options available, they know immediately the status of all settlement runs, can view reports and logs, download various settlement output files, etc.

There are a series of standard reports that the SIMMARIX load settlement module produces. However, these can be easily modified to meet specific customer requirements.

As with all the SIMMARIX software modules, through user friendly web based interfaces, the user has instant access to their data and reports anytime and anywhere provided they have access to the internet.

Load Settlement Agent functions provided by SIMAMRIX include:

•  Processing and management of all customer switches (enrollments)
•  Processing and management of all applicable location (site) information (meter characteristics, emergency contact information etc.) for all locations within a settlement zone.
•  Communication with all market participants via market communication protocols
•  Settlement of all metered, estimated or calculated loads by location (site) including allocation of losses and un-accounted for energy (UFE)
•  Calculation of location specific transportation charges (wires tariffs)
•  Calculation of location specific energy costs, riders, rebates, trading charges, etc.
•  All calculations done for all settlement runs and adjustments provided between settlement runs.
•  Aggregation of site specific transportation charges by market participant to generate wires tariff invoice.
•  Resolution of Wires Tariff Invoices disputes.
•  Storage of all settlement inputs and outputs in a secure database.

Settlement Verification

SIMMARIX will recreate settlement statements from the ISO or Load Settlement Agent based on usage data supplied to/by the customer. These results can then be utilized in dispute resolution process.

Data Transfer & Exchange

SIMMARIX supports a variety of data exchange formats (EDI, XML, etc.) so that meter data may be exchanged easily and cost-effectively with different market participants.

Data Aggregation

SIMMARIX is capable of performing large numbers and volumes of aggregations for wholesale markets. The solution can also allocate losses according to rates or market rules.
